An sampling of interests & skills which the S.C.A. membership pursues are:
Given such a wide range of activities and voluntary participation, we feel that membership might be useful and appealing to anyone in our area who seeks to learn as a means to enriching their lives. There are workshops and practices in the New York City area on a weekly basis. Some of these are open to the general public, and people are welcome to watch or participate. People may also be available to teach classes or hold workshops on specific topics of interest. Events for our general membership occur on almost any given weekend and include fully costumed feasts, mock combat, fencing, dancing and other entertainment. Some weekend events also include classes and workshops before the feast or have merchant areas for the purchase of replica gear to aid in re-creating the Middle Ages. Some "local" events can be easily reached by public transportation, although some require a car/carpool and a drive of as much as 2-3 hours. However there's almost always something within easy reach.
